Brown FTW
The brown leather is slightly thicker and softer than the black. With a little saddle soap it becomes gorgeous. The fit with Southern Specialties picks is very snug. If you're buying this for picks made from other manufacturers, it fits Covert Instruments and Sparrows, but not SouthOrd. It's also not great for thicker plastic handles like Petersen.

Fantastic storage for flat, slim items.
If you like using picks with thin handle scales (or none at all), you'll be very happy with this small case. I have a Longhorn Tension set, four Plain Handle picks, two long-handled BOK tension wrenches, and a couple of mini picks tucked into mine, and the entire package passes the shake test with flying colors. Nothing coming out of there unless I want it to. The brown case is handsome, feels durable, and fits easily into a pocket. A solid purchase for anyone who enjoys carrying and using flat lock picks.
