Folding Pocket Set

I ordered a 7pc standard, black jack, with my own custom array of picks. When ordering, there is a comment box which you can use to request specific picks to be included in the setup. I used the list presented on the product on this website titled “Replacement folding pocket single picks”. https://lockpicktools.com/replacement-folding-pocket-single-picks/ At the bottom of the page of the above link, you can find a list of all of the offered picks, each preceded by their number in the lineup. My folding pocket set was marked as delivered within a few days of placing my order. Unfortunately, it was a false mark because I never received that set. I contacted USPS (delivery service) as well as Jeff, here at Southern Specialties, to keep him in the loop. I had to wait through the weekend to hear from USPS on Monday, with the results of their investigation: it was a failure to recover. I opened my email to update Jeff on the matter, to find that he had taken the initiative and had already prepared another set — exactly as I had ordered, custom assortment and all — and it was shipped soon after. I received it today along with a generous addition. These reviews praise the customer service here and it is well deserved. As for the product, this is my first pick set, or pick of any kind. I have hours of watching the process, but no hands-on experience. I understand that the deadbolt lock on my door is fairly easy, but I was still thrilled that I managed to unlock it with this set in a mere couple of seconds. The tool fits in my palm and is light in weight, but is not a feather. It has a firm clip to attach it to my belt or pocket, and it stays in place. It is sturdy, and while I have not abused it, it feels like it is quite durable. The tension wrench sits firmly in the tool, due to clever engineering: it sits in grooves and it has a bend at the mid section that applies tension which holds it in place without any slippage. The locking arm applies tension to the picks to hold them in place when engaged (default position), is easy to operate, and once loosened, allows smooth manipulation of the picks, provided that the tension wrench is removed (it sits covering the area where the picks swing into position). After a chosen pick is fully in place, simply close the locking arm and the pick stays perfectly in place. There is no slippage from any part. For what it is worth from a newbie, I am very impressed with this tool and with the customer service.

This is an excellent jackknife style pick set; the quality is great and a real bonus is the ability to mix and match picks the way you want them. This company is very easy to work with and even caught a mistake I made in ordering the wrong thickness of a couple of picks. Will absolutely do business with them again.

I loved that this set got me back into picking again. The size, weight and the selection of tools all in a tiny package is awesome. My only complaint is that the tension tool isn’t more securely stored in the handle. I just ordered a replacement after my first one had fallen off and has been lost somewhere.

Cool little pick set

This is a great every day carry pick set. It is small, but still extremely functional and all the metal components feel well made. Overall a great design and a good pick.

It was just as expected, I wanted something portable but I did not realize that the colors correspond to different picks within the set. Knowing that I would’ve went with the pink one as it’s more applicable to stuff you usually see out and about.

I’ve purchased several jackknife sets and this on hands down was the cleanest and best quality one straight out of the package! No burrs didn’t need polished or sanded and it just works. The locking mechanism is probably my favorite out of all of the ones I own. And the “feel” for the pins is almost as good as a full-size pick.

The lever action locks the picks in place super well! They even threw in a few freebies.

This is my second purchase of this product. I enjoyed mine so much and have it as an every day carry, that I bought another as a gift for a friend. She is as pleased as I have been. As long as you set your locking screw correctly on this, it can be as solid as a stand alone pick. Their customer service this time around was, as usual, top notch. I will continue to be a customer for myself and gifts. Next thing will be to try that CRT-2 tension tool! I've never owned one before, but with quality I've experienced here, I'd try anything they make.

I genuinely like this very affordable little bugger. I carry it every day along with my pocket knife, which works well with the keyring hole on the handle to hold the two together on a little lanyard. The ONLY thing I would change is the thickness of the picks. I for one wouldn't mind if the set was even .5" wider to accommodate better steel. That would make this a solid 5 stars.

I like this tool. It is smaller than I thought but I like the size. It fits well. I do not feel a difference if I use this tool vs a pick. I like the .020 thickness. I normally use 0.018 and at times find 0.025 to thick. Provides good feed back too. One think I would like to see changed is be able to add 1 or 2 more tension wrenches. 0.050, 0.040,( must have)and 0.030(maybe). I have been brain storming of where I can put another tension wrench and how the tension wrench will be constructed. I love TOK vs BOK. Over all, a product I would recommend.
