Folding Pocket Set

Need to be gentle, it seems very fragile and tend to bend easily, but it's a great set.

Definitely the folding pick set by which all others are judged. I carried the first one I bought everyday for 4 years until I lost it. Just replaced it with a new one. It's never failed to open a lock and often times, I emergency situations.

Just like the other reviews on here, I agree that this is well-put-together--meaning there's no "give" or jiggling when working with the picks, just a direct connection between you and the pins. Had one of those cheap Chinese wallet pick sets before trying this, will now be throwing it out. CONS: The biggest disappointment for me is how easily the torsion wrench can fall out if it's bumped wrong. That kinda defeats the point of this being a pocket tool, much less an everyday-carry. May try to krazy glue some kind of stopper in place; maybe it's just me. Also, wish I'd known the picks can be customized before buying, would have swapped one out for a broken key remover. PRO: Much more compact than I expected. I didn't get that sense from the pictures, but this is actually about the size of a USB drive, so it's perfect for going on your keychain without drawing attention or strange looks from people. Also, again, the picks just FEEL right when working pins.

I feel that I'm I a unique position to review this pick set. I have carried one every day for about six or seven years now and have used it on countless locks. I recently ordered another to have a different set of picks and am very happy with it. Now that I'm a full time locksmith, I still find myself carrying this set daily. It's good for the many times I need to pick a simple pin tumbler or wafer lock but don't want to walk all the way back to the car and get a full sized pick set. It's mainly a good kit to rake open simple locks but single pin picking is possible... it's just a bit hard to feel exactly what's going on. If super precision is your goal obviously full sized picks are the way to go. This is just a portable kit to carry every day and at that it excels. The construction is lightweight but by no means cheap or flimsy. You'll forget you even have it on you most of the time until you need it. The way it works is dead simple... Push in on the tension tool and it will pop free, then rotate the lever down. Flip out the pick you want to use and then rotate the lever closed to lock the pick in place. The picks themselves are very nice stainless steel and slide smoothly in the lock. They are long enough for most pin tumbler and wafer locks, but often fall short of being useable on longer keyways such as automotive locks. That and the fact that it is easy to lose the tension tool are the only two downsides to this product. When I ordered my second set I was able to choose my own types of picks, I also ordered two new tension tools for my old one since I lost them. The process of ordering what I wanted was very easy and a pleasant experience. All in all I couldn't be happier with my products or service from this company. If you're on the fence about this pick set, rest easy. It's well made and very useful. I wouldn't have bought two and recommended them to friends if it was junk. Totally worth it.

I purchased this in addition to a Folding Pocket Set 8 after misplacing the /folding Pocket Set 8 that I purchased over a year ago. I was very pleased with the all metal version but did not want to pay the price to have a spare should I misplace the set in the future. I have since found the misplaced set but am well pleased to have an additional pocket pick set. I seldom used the additional pick in the Folding Pocket Set 8 so would not hesitate to purchase a Folding Pocket Set 7P in the future.

Pros : compact, well designed. All the picks are interchangeable. Can be taken apart easily for cleaning. If you want to upgrade to the metal handle, its available on the site. Con: I think the metal the Picks are cut from could be a slightly heavier thickness. Not a necessity, but would be nice. Great item , best price on the Internet that I could find for a Pick tool like this. Shipping on this Item was Fast too.

Smaller then I expected. Body is made out of some type of plastic, feels cheap. The metal body would have been a better choice for me but nice over all. Very nice locking mechanism as well. I would recommend this or the metal version if someone wants a compact set.
